Have you ever wanted to combine bits and pieces of different transcripts into one? With our Stories feature, you now can!
What is a Story?
Our Stories feature allows you to grab specific quotes from any of your Trints and pull them into one place, called a Story. You can then share with collaborators, or export it into your video editing software or word processor.
The quotes you add to your Story will also bring over the audio/video media that the section is linked to. That way, you can playback your Story to see and hear the quotes.
Our Stories feature is available on all plans.
How do I create a Story?
You can create a Story in two ways.
The first way is by clicking on New Story on your Your Trints page. Name your Story first, and start adding quotes to it later.
The second way is by adding quotes directly to your Story. You can do this by opening up a Trint with a quote that you want to use, highlighting it and clicking on Add to Story from the toolbar. You can either add it to an existing story, or create a new one in the panel that pops up on the right.
How do I add sections to my Story?
Once you have your Story set up, you can add quotes to your Story by highlighting the section you want to use (you can make as many highlights as you want, in any color you'd like), and clicking on Add to Story on the toolbar of our Editor.
A sidebar will pop up on the right, where you can choose which quotes you'd like to add.
If, for example, you highlighted quotes in your transcript for Story #1 in yellow, and other quotes for Story #2 in red, you can specify which color's highlights you want to add to the Story you're currently working on. You can also add a selection from text you're currently highlighting.
Choose the highlight colors you'd like to add, choose the Story you want to add them to, and click on Add to Story.
What can I do with my Story?
You can use your Story to plan your project by dragging and dropping the various sections to change up the order. Try it out!
You can also add "blocks" in between each section, such as a heading or text, to better keep track of what each section is. You can do this by hovering over the space in between two sections, until the "Add a block" option comes up. (Please note: these blocks will only export in the Word format).
On the right hand side of each quote, you can see which Trint the quote came from, and how long the quote is. You can also click on the Trint's name to be redirected back to the original transcript.
At the very bottom of the Story, you can view the total duration of the Story, along with the number of quotes you've added so far.
You can also listen to the entire Story, similar to how you listen along to a transcribed file on our Editor.
You can delete a quote or a text block by clicking the little trash icon to the right of a quote.
You can also delete a Story entirely, the same way you would delete a Trint (i.e.: by going to your Your Trints page, or wherever the Story is stored in your account, checking the box to the left of the Story's name, and selecting Delete from the toolbar above).
How do I export a Story?
You can export your Story by clicking on Export on the upper right hand corner.
You can export your Story in one of the three formats:
- Microsoft Word (.docx)
- Edit Decision List (.edl)
- Project (.xml)
Can I share my Story with other Trint users?
Depending on your plan, you can share your Story with other Trint users.
If you have a Pro/Pro-Team/Enterprise plan, you can do so by clicking on Share on the upper right hand corner, selecting the Share with collaborators option, and entering their emails into the text box.
If you are on a Starter/Advanced plan, you can upgrade at any time to access this feature by going to your Plan page.
- If you want to make an edit to a quote, this will have to be done on the original transcript. You can then re-add that quote back to your Story once complete.
- If you want to change the timecode of your quote, this will also have to be done on the original transcript before it is added to a Story.
- You cannot make a Story from a Realtime Trint at the moment.
