How to review and edit your transcripts in Trint

The Trint Editor is where you can review, edit and handpick quotes from your transcripts to be repurposed into new content. This guide will show you what features Trint offers to start your content creation journey.

This support guide will cover:

Overview of editor tools

Every audio or video you upload and transcribe will open in the Trint Editor, ready to be reviewed and reworked as you see fit. Here’s a rundown of the editing tools along the navigation bar above your transcript:

  • Find & Replace allows you to search for one or all instances of a word or phrase. A useful editing tool if a word is repeatedly mis-transcribed.

  • Highlight lets you mark a selection of text in up to five colors. Helping to note memorable moments, section out your transcript and easily pull quotes into new Stories.

  • Strike lets you redact unwanted text rather than removing it, making sure timecodes stay intact for playback.

  • Add Marker allows you to tag points of interest in your transcript for future reference and instantly jump back to them with a click.

  • Comment helps you make notes while reviewing your transcript and also lets you tag collaborators for feedback and sign off on content.

  • Add to Vocab lets you add custom words to a personalized dictionary, helping Trint’s AI learn tricky words or phrases and create more accurate transcriptions over time.

  • Translate allows you to instantly translate your transcription into more than 50 languages.

  • Add to Story is the next step on your content creation journey. Find key quotes or memorable moments in your transcript, then pull them into a Story file to craft into a new narrative.

  • Export opens a sidebar menu with a range of formatting options to publish your transcript.

  • Create Caption turns your transcript into instant closed captions that can be reviewed and edited in Trint’s Caption Editor. This will create a separate file and any changes in your transcript will not appear in the caption file, and vice versa.

Reviewing your transcript

When first opening a Trint, it’s helpful to tell Trint who the speakers are for this transcript. You can do this by clicking the “Add speaker” name beside each paragraph and typing in the person’s name.

If you included Speaker Detection when uploading your audio or video file, every paragraph with the same name will be automatically updated.

You can easily keep track of which paragraphs have been reviewed as you go by ticking the box on the right-hand side. This will mark it green and also updated the “Paragraphs verified” counter at the bottom of your transcript.

If you would like to share your transcript with colleagues or collaborate as a team, click the yellow button in the top right-hand corner. This will give you a range of sharing options with Editor, Commenter and Viewer permissions depending on the level of access someone needs.

Waveform bar

The waveform bar at the bottom of your transcript gives you a timeline of the audio file, making it easy to match up text and edit if needed.

This section also includes playback controls for the preview window and timecodes to help you keep track of your editing progress.
