What are multi-coloured highlights for?

There's a variety of ways you can use highlights to work faster and organize your Trints.

  • Highlight your transcript in multiple colours to better organize and label your text

  • Distinguish different speakers by highlighting their text in different colours

  • Sort your text according to topics addressed

  • Use multi-coloured highlights as bookmarks to mark where you left off

How many highlighting colours are there?

There are five highlighting colours to choose from: yellow, green, blue, red and purple.

Where can I find Multi-Coloured Highlights?

Look for the Highlight icon in the toolbar of the Editor.

To access the Editor, click on the transcript title on the Trints page to open the Editor, choose Highlight and choose one of the highlighting colours.

This feature is available on all of our subscription plans.


Go to the toolbar at the top of your Trint. Click on the arrow to the left of the Highlight icon and choose the colour you'd like to apply.


There are two ways you can apply the Multi-Coloured Highlights on text:

  1. Select the text you'd like to highlight, then click on the Highlight icon on the toolbar at the top

  2. Select the text and highlight it by using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + H on your keyboard.

How do I unhighlight selected text?

There are a few ways to unhighlight a portion of text. These include:

  1. Selecting the text you would like to remove highlighting from

  2. Clicking on the Highlight icon on the toolbar at the top


  1. Selecting the text you would like to remove highlighting from

  2. Clicking on the dropdown arrow icon (beside Highlight icon) and selecting the corresponding colour of the text (ex. if your text is highlighted in yellow, click on the yellow highlight button)

Or if you prefer a keyboard shortcut, then

  1. Select the text you would like to unhighlight

  2. Push CTRL + H on your keyboard

How do I remove all highlights?

If you are looking for a way to clear ALL highlighted text from your file, click on the dropdown arrow icon (beside Highlight icon) in the toolbar.

Below all of the colour selections, there is a clear box, select this button. You will then be prompted to either confirm clearing all highlights or to cancel and keep highlights as is. Select the option you wish to proceed with.

If you opt to clear all highlights and then later wish to retrieve the highlighted sections, you can simply reverse the action by clicking on the Undo icon on the toolbar.

Can I only export my highlights?

You can export all highlighted sections of your transcript together.

Click Export at the top-right corner of the Editor, choose one of the export formats available and click on Just Highlights at the bottom of the pop-up window. Then click the Download button.

All highlighted text sections (all colours) will appear in the exported document of your choice.

Can I see the duration of my highlights?

You can still see the duration of each colour and the total duration of all highlights at the bottom of the Editor.

Highlights & Story

Want to create and/or add to your Story but don’t know where to start?

Add quotes from transcripts by highlighting or selecting the text you’d like to grab. These can be brought over from as many transcripts as you’d like.
