Once you've signed up for a free trial, there are a few easy steps you'll need to follow in order to transcribe your first file.

1. Log in
Once you're logged in, you'll arrive on the My Trints and Stories page. This is your account dashboard and where all your uploaded files are visible. Click on the yellow Upload button in the top left of the navigation bar.

2. Audio quality check
Once you click on the upload button, our system will ask you some questions about the audio quality of your file. Some issues (background noise, distant microphones, telephone calls, etc.) can lead to a poor transcription result. Click through and verify that you're ready to upload and you'll be taken to the next step!

3. Choose your files
The next window that pops up allows you to pick your audio or video files for transcription. This is where you can drag and drop your files or select them from your computer (or cloud accounts such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.). You can select multiple files at once.

Once you've picked your files, click the blue Upload button in the bottom right to start the upload process.

You will be able to see the progress of the upload, make sure you don’t close Trint or shut down your computer during this stage.

4. The finer details
Once the upload has finished, you can choose the language of the original audio file, if you would like to enable Vocab Builder and if you’d like the system to detect when the speaker changes.

5. Click transcribe

During this transcription stage, feel free to close Trint, shut down your computer and go for a coffee. Your transcript will be working in the background and you’ll receive an email, and web notification, once it is ready. It'll also be marked as Transcribed on your dashboard.

Files can take up to the file’s duration to transcribe, so if you have an hour-long file, it'll take up to an hour to transcribe. When it's complete, simply click on the file name to open the transcript and start editing.
